(특별보고서) 여순10·19 구술자료 현황과 활용- 10·19연구소의 여순10·19 구술 채록 사업 보고 / 임송본

이 논문은 여순10·19사건 구술자료의 현황을 살펴보고, 채록된 구술 자료가 어떻게 활용되고 있는지 고찰하였다. 그리고 그동안 순천대학교 10·19연구소에서 실시한 구술 채록을 정리하였다. 여순10·19는 신생 대 한민국의 제도와 사회구조에 막대한 영향을 끼쳤지만, ‘반란’으로 규정한 국가의 억압으로 유족은 물론 그 누구도 말할 수 없는 금기의 영역이었다. 사회의 민주화 이후 조금씩 나타나던 구술들은 최근에 와서야 여순특별 법이 논의되면서 여순10·19와 관련된 지자체를 중심으로 채록되기 시작한다. 순천대학교 10·19연구소에서는 순천시, 구례군, 전라남도와 함께 560여 명의 여순사건 유족들의 증언을 채록하였다. 
여순10·19 구술자료는 정부 주도의 공식역사에서는 누락되거나 회피 되고, 왜곡되었던 사실들이 증언을 통해서 한계를 보완하고 기존 자료의 미진한 부분의 공백을 메울 수 있다. 구술자료가 10·19연구의 중요한 사 료가 되었다. 유족들은 그동안 말하지 못했던 것을 말로 풀어내면서 상처 를 치유하기도 한다. 구술자료를 바탕으로 많은 문학 작품들이 창작되었 고, 현재 진행되고 있는 여순특별법에 따른 사실조사의 기초자료로 활용 되고 있다. 앞으로의 구술 연구는 피해자 그룹과 가해자 그룹의 구술에 대 한 비교 연구, 시기별 구술에 나타나는 차이와 특징, 특정 구술자가 여러 차례 구술했을 때의 구술 간의 공통점과 차이점 등을 밝히는 연구 등으로 확장될 필요가 있다.
이글은 새로운 연구 결과를 보여주려는 글이 아니고, 여순10·19 관련 구술들이 다양한 형태로 연구되고 재현되기를 바라며 그 현황을 보여준 것이다.

The current status and utilization of oral 
records related Yeo-Sun 10·19

This paper examines the current status of oral records related to the Yeo-Sun 10·19 Incident, exploring how recorded oral accounts are being utilized. Additionally, it compiles the oral records conducted by the 10·19 Research Institute at Sunchon National University. The Yeo-Sun 10·19 Incident had a significant impact on the nascent Republic of Korea’s institutions and social structure. However, it was a forbidden territory due to the government’s oppressive labeling of it as a ‘rebellion,’ making it a forbidden area for anyone, including the bereaved families, to discuss. With the gradual democratization of society, oral accounts that were slowly surfacing have recently begun to be documented, especially in connection with local governments related to Yeo-Sun 10·19, coinciding with discussions on the Yeo-Sun Incident Special Law. The 10·19 Research Institute in collaboration with local authorities such as Sunchon City, Gurye County, and Jeollanam-do, has recorded testimonies from over 560 in bereaved family members of the Yeo-Sun Incident. 
Yeo-Sun 10·19 oral records supplement the limitations and gaps in official government-led history, which often omitted, evaded, or distorted facts. These oral records have become crucial evidence for the 10·19 Incident research. The bereaved family members, by verbalizing what they couldn’t express before, also find a way to heal their wounds. The oral records have served as the basis for creating many literary works and are currently being used as foundational material for the ongoing factual investigation under the Yeo-Sun Incident Special Law. Future oral research needs to expand into comparative studies of oral accounts between victim and perpetrator groups, differences and characteristics in oral accounts over time, and commonalities and differences in oral accounts when a specific speaker addresses the incident multiple times.
This article does not aim to present new research results but rather hopes to showcase the diverse forms of research and reproduction of oral accounts related Yeo-Sun 10·19, reflecting their current status.
